This is a video log of my journey into the world if ITX, albeit an easy one as the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX case is big (as ITX cases go, allowing fitting of standard size ATX power supply and full length graphics cards) Photos from the build: https://photos.google.com/album/AF1Qi... Full build spec: Ryzen 3700X CPU with Noctua NH-D14 cooler (requires purchase or free upgrade kit NH-AM4 to work) MSI B450i Gaming Plus AC - ITX motherboard (requires BIOS update for Ryzen 3000 series processors) DEEPCOOL FH-04 Fan Header (to allow multiple system fans) 16Gb (2x 8GB) G-Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM MSI GTX 1080 8Gb Gaming X Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX case (includes 200mm front fan) 1x Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 140mm fan Thoughts: As specifed the PC runs quite hot under full load - GPU @ 80C, CPU @ 85C (both at 100% usage while stress testing simultaneously) The main reasons seems to be air flow. Higher RPM fans are ideally required. I will be replacing the front 200mm fan and the be quiet 140mm fan with a trio of high airflow Noctua fans to help push more air through the case. With the side off this dropped the CPU to 80C and the GPU to 78C. The rear exhaust fan and the rear most top fan cannot be mounted with the NH-D14 fitted as the cooler occupies the same area (a slim rear fan might be possible). However given the orientation of the fans on the CPU cooler, air is expelled quite well from the rear of the case regardless. The top of the case is solid with some angled side vents and a rear exhaust grill. While this allows some air flow it severely restricts hot air escaping compared to just have a perforated top panel. I like the solid top personally, but in a case this size I can't help be feel a perforated design would have aided temperatures significantly. Case issues: The is very little clearance for the GPU to breath. Adding a further 20mm to the height of the case would have helped reduce GPU temperatures a lot. The case can accept a dual slot GPU at most, triple slot designs would not fit. The access hole to feed the 12V CPU power cable through to the motherboard, from the back of the case (behind right side panel) is too small to feed the cable headers through. There's a cable management hole just to the side so it's not a major issue, but if you're going to provide an access hole, make it large enough Phanteks! The PC does run VERY quiet however, even at full load. So the Noctua cooler is doing great job keeping noise under control. Motherboard issues: The position of the CMOS jumper is rediculous. After needing to reset BIOS with the build complete I had to literally remove the following to access it: GPU, then 2x top fans, then CPU cooler, then rear fan. It's positioned inbetween the rear I/O behind the faceplate, and in my setup at least, was completely inaccessable. This should be positioned near the 24pin power cable for convenience, MSI! Noctua NH-D14: RAM wants to be no taller than 47mm to avoid issues. Trident Z is 43mm (measured, 44mm on their spec sheet)
