In the first two episodes of this series, we explored why AI conversations feel comforting, and how the speed of clarity affects how meaning is integrated. This episode focuses on something different: responsibility for what happens after clarity arrives. In human relationships—whether with a counselor, mentor, teacher, or friend—there is an implicit expectation of responsibility. There is someone who can notice misunderstanding, adjust guidance, or help repair outcomes if something goes wrong. With AI, that structural responsibility isn’t present. This episode explores: how responsibility normally functions in human support relationships what changes when that responsibility is absent and why this difference exists independently of whether the information was correct This isn’t about whether AI should or shouldn’t be used. It’s about understanding the structure of the interaction, and how that structure shapes outcomes. This is Episode 3 of a 4-part series examining AI, mental health, speed, responsibility, and authorship.
