Here is a brand new arrangement by me of one of the greatest tunes ever written. I have wanted to do an arrangement of this for many many years now, but it's always rather intimidated me. I wanted to do something really special with it, but never quite knew where to start. Anyway, I sketched out an arrangement last Sunday and have been working on it all week, tweaking a few things here and there, and this is the result, an arrangement that I am really proud of. It is in DADGAD with a capo at fret 3. My method of working is usually to arrange the melody first then add an introduction. The intro you hear is what was in my head at the time, a fairly simple modal chord sequence with some unusual discords in places. We then go into 2 plays through the tune, with a little bridge in between based on the intro. Then we go into what is in effective guitar solo, with a slightly different setting of part A (no repeat) and B. At the end I of this I had intended to replay the intro, but....something kept bugging me to work on this transition back to verse 3, and so we hear a slightly modified version of the intro, with some more rather poignant discords. The arrangement ends with a coda and a little quote from this modified intro at the very end. The piece is played on my lovely 16 year old Brook Lyn (new to me though) with lovely Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. It really suits Celtic style music, especially in DADGAD. Hope you enjoy it. If you want TAB you may have to wait a little as I only have a handwritten score which, being a working copy has lots of scribbles and crossings out on. I need to buy Sibelius again to work on a professional looking arrangement, so please bear with me. Robbie
