While I am performing an instrumental version of this song, it does have lyrics. It appears that Fuba is a type of grain and the song is about a bird that eats the grain and there’s no grain left to make dinner for the family. As a guitar player I’ve always idolized this song. The greatest performance of it in my opinion, is by the South American guitarist Oscar Alemán. While from Argentina, he traveled to Paris and lived there at the time of Django Reinhardt in the 1930s and fled back to South America during Hitler’s occupation of Paris. It is my understanding that while the nazi’s let him go, they confiscated his steel guitars to melt them down to make bullets. Aleman performed many of the same concert venues as Reinhart, and often times when Django would mysteriously not show up to his own gig or concert Django’s brother Joseph would find Oscar and ask him to sub for Django because he was the only guitarist that could possibly pull it off. There is a story of Oscar Alemán, while playing a concert for Django, during the intermission he went across the street to a bar to order a drink. There he saw Django in deep embrace with a woman in a booth. He tapped Reinhardt on the shoulder telling him, “you know I’m playing your concert for you…” and the story goes that Django says,”I’ll give you whatever you want, just leave me alone!” Ah Django and his stories… I love this Rickenbacker (Rickett-backer) guitar I’m playing on built by Dan Ransom who works in my neighborhood in San Francisco at Real Guitars. It is somewhat of a replica of the guitar John Lennon played for The Beatles first Ed Sullivan performance. He is a good solid builder and though I came by the guitar used, I have no idea why someone would sell it, it’s great! Real Guitars was also made into an on location set for Woody Allen’s San Francisco movie 🎥 “Blue Jasmine”. Thank You so much for listening and please consider subscribing to my channel as I am a working musician and hoping to grow my audience 🤘❤️🎶🤘 #ticotico #ticoticonofuba #electricguitar #woodyallen #realguitars #johnlennon #rickenbacker #tubeamp #sofa #oscaraleman #django #paris #sanfrancisco
