Livium Ltd (ASX:LIT, OTC:LMMFF) managing director and CEO Simon Linge talked with Proactive's Tylah Tully about the company’s latest milestone—a $30 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). The funding will support the development of an Australian LFP (lithium ferro phosphate) battery demonstration plant through its subsidiary, VSPC Pty Ltd. VSPC specialises in producing cathode active material, a crucial and expensive component of batteries. According to Linge, VSPC is one of the few companies outside China with this capability. The grant provides 50% of the required funding for the $60 million demonstration plant, which is essential for scaling up production. Linge highlighted that the grant follows a year-long due diligence process by ARENA, which assessed the technology, market potential, and Livium’s execution capabilities. The company now aims to secure the remaining funding through private capital markets and partnerships, without relying on shareholders. Once fully funded, Livium will proceed with engineering studies, finalise investment decisions, and work toward binding offtake agreements. This milestone is expected to accelerate VSPC’s transition from pilot-scale production to full commercial operations. Watch the full interview to learn more about Livium’s growth plans.
