"Secret Love" was the first jazz chart I learned from my drum teacher in 2007 shortly after this arrangement by Greg Yasinitsky was published in the Alfred Publishing / Belwin Jazz play-along jazz book. Today, I introduce this tune to my students as an application of the versatile techniques of jazz drumming. All of the drum fills can be played simply or advanced. Being a medium grade difficulty jazz chart, "Secret Love" is easy-to-follow yet can be played by bands at the junior high to professional level. The original intention of this video is to provide an example to my students of how I approach a jazz chart and show the variations in swing beats and fills to compliment the ensemble figures.
