Michels Utility Services team builds twin utility lines under a bridge deck

A Michels Utility Services, Inc. crew worked on a catwalk 150 feet above the Mississippi River to build two pipelines underneath a bridge deck as it was being rehabilitated. The 20-inch-diameter pipes each spanned 1,400 feet and were suspended from custom-built hangers. Crews used special equipment to assemble, weld and test the pipes while working on an 8-foot-wide catwalk. Special training and procedures were necessary to allow the crew to complete the work safely.
