I don’t know how they considered it (a site), it is as if they will start considering it a nuclear site. These are people's private properties. May God help the people. It’s just harm for the sake of harm, nothing more, nothing less." ASSOCIATED PRESS Dahiyeh, southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon - 7 November 2024 3. Various of rubble in residential area damaged by strikes STORYLINE: Several large airstrikes hit Beirut’s southern suburbs early Thursday, including one on a site adjacent to Lebanon’s only international airport. The Israeli military had earlier issued an evacuation notice for the site, saying that there were Hezbollah facilities there, without giving more details. "These are people's private properties. May God help the people. It’s just harm for the sake of harm," said Hassan Jaafil, a resident of the area. There were no immediate reports of casualties. Beirut’s airport has not been directly targeted in the war between Israel and Hezbollah, and national air carrier Middle East Airlines has continued to operate commercial flights. Since the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah erupted in 2023, at least 3,000 people have been killed and some 13,500 wounded in Lebanon, the Health Ministry reported.
