Santiago de Tolu in Colombia is more commonly referred to simply as Tolu and is a very small, ocean side town about 3 hours south of Cartagena de Indias, also commonly known simply as Cartagena. It is hard to describe Tolu as a beach town considering there is not actually that much beach to enjoy, but it has that feel of a relaxed beach town and encompasses the relaxed vibe of the rest of Colombia. Take a bus from Cartagena and they go direct to Tolu, and from the drop off point, you can get a ride in a tuk-tuk to the beach. I also show you the low cost of living and travelling in Tolu as my private room, overlooking the ocean was only ten bucks a night. Colombia is so cheap because of competition, not because the quality is bad and is constantly up there with the happiest countries in the world.
