People have reported sighting more crocodiles in rivers and other water bodies this year. “We suspect the reptiles have strayed from Bhitarkanika. It has put our livelihood at stake,” said Amulya Behera, a fishermen of bari. Bhitarkanika is home to around 1,793 salt water crocodiles as per this year’s reptile census.
