This was shot at Melbourn squash club in Cambridgeshire in May 2016 and features Tim Scarfe and Dave Weaver. I thought I would try out recording a squash game with my new GoPro Session. I can only find 2 other YouTube videos of squash games using (much older) GoPros and head mounts. I have shot this at 60fps which I think is a massive step up too. Squash is a fast action game and it's really important to have a high frame rate (make sure it's selected and you are watching this on a PC, not a mobile device, TV, chromecast etc). So basically; this is a shout out to decent squash players and SquashTV/PSA. Please start strapping GoPros on the players and make some squash content. It's so much more immersive. The GoPro Session is TINY, it does not affect the game at all. You can see where players are looking (or not looking!), can hear them breathing hard or bending over to get more air, you can see so much more of the nuance to the game. And some multi-camera options would make for great viewing albeit with slightly more onus on the video editing. I slightly doctored the video using Davinci Resolve i.e. increased contrast and changed colours and saturation, and a slight vignette. I think it's really easy to see the ball. This would also be good for VR and coaching videos. As well as the head mount, I also tried the body strap. This was good because you could see what the racket was doing (a bit) but I thought not as good as the head view. I am leaving the area to go travelling, so will miss the club. Cheers Melbourn squash club!
