Filmed in August 2020. As mentioned, 1st time in this area. Took my best guess at the chain remotely. A little grabby on the stump as we watched. As it became wood dull the chain "mellowed" a little and was just about right after getting a few trees on the ground. AWESOME limbing setup though! After the introductions, we take a gander up the tree to see it is leaning out to the left and down. In the end, no heavy wedging and this tree is heading out to the right. Leverage, it's an excellent concept if a guy can master the physics and use the weight of the tree against itself as we see here. Some out there say it cannot be done. If we have viewed the "Soft Dutchman" video from 12 years ago on this channel then we know that it is more than hypothetical. And, we are watching it happen here again. My suggestion, KNOW YOUR WOOD! Not all maneuvers seen on this channel will work on all species and in all locations. One of the easiest ways to lose a tree over backward is while trying to swing it. Not all attempts by professional fallers nets a successful outcome when a swing is attempted. So that leads to the second part which is Know Your Skill Set. If you think something is sketchy initially, it probably is. That could be the still small voice telling you to get some help from someone more qualified. In the end, I was well pleased at how the 500i "Zipp-a-facation" operation turned out. Albeit a bit of a fuel hog once in modded trim. I'm currently available for custom saw modifications.
