this ring was made from an older ring for a custom job. it is 14k gold and it was melted to ingot and drawn and forged out again on the anvil and with a rolling mill to size 11. it is 5mm wide and in 18 gauge and it will be the insert for a new Mokume Gane ring in 18k. this video demonstrates a effective method for soldering 14k gold rings along their seam. the D shape makes it easy to start behind the ring and build up proper heat, this heat transfers into the curved areas leading to the seam, as this area expands the seam push tightly against itself, and at the moment the heat truly reaches this area the solder will be sucked into the joint flawlessly right where it is wanted and no where else. This is an ambitious project. I am up to it…more than up to it, You have to think that way when playing with such expensive toysI got this, no question. This challenge or any other for that matter.
