Caregivers are interviewed regarding the rapidly diminishing capabilities of their loved ones, the enormous stress of home care, and various alternatives that have worked. Finally, the aspect of the patient's inevitable death is explored, particularly the recovery of the caregiver and the course of returning to a post-caregiving lifestyle. This film and its two successors have been used for decades by physicians, neurologists, researchers, patients and their caregivers. Although it is now presented as a marginally restored historical document, it remains an effective way of learning more about this still-misunderstood and erroneously researched medical condition.
