Carp Fishing Open Access Venues Series: Dawford Pool | Carp Fishing 2020 The word ‘intimate’ is often overused when it comes to describing carp venues, but it couldn’t be more perfect for the location of this month’s ‘Open-access’ venue: the immaculate Dawford Pool, near Newport, Shropshire. This incredibly beautiful piece of water of about two-acres, is a haven of nooks and crannies, islands and weedy bays. It sits in a heavily wooded area with an abundance of wildlife, especially after dark, when the constant hooting of owls and barking of foxes can be heard on every side of the lake.
