Gujarat Authorities On High Alert Over 'Chandipura' Virus; Alarming Rise Worries Parents | Top News

Two more children died from suspected Chandipura virus infection in Gujarat on Tuesday, raising the death toll to eight. Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel in Gandhinagar reported new cases in other districts, bringing the total number of infections to 15. The virus causes fever, flu-like symptoms, body aches, diarrhea, vomiting, and acute encephalitis, belonging to the Vesiculovirus genus of the Rhabdoviridae family, transmitted by mosquitoes, ticks, and sandflies.
