Mike Kabat, owner of co-owner of Haab's Restaurant, gives us some history on Haab's and the town of Ypsilanti. Haab's is the 2013 David's Road Trip contest winner! They wanted to serve people in a homestyle, good atmosphere, where they would be welcome to come in. The brothers operated it until they got into their mid 70s and asked us to buy it in 1976 and we've been here ever since. We've tried to maintain the same ambiance that the Haab brothers had 35 years ago. And it still has that feeling that you're stepping back in time. One of the things we try and do with service here, is to try and take care of the customer as if we're inviting them into our home. We've served a chicken in the basket with a fried chicken for 80 years and it's been the number one seller on our menu every month for 80 years. We've got posted on our wall, the original menu of 1934 and the main thing that we try and do though is to have it consistent every time you come in. I love the business, I love the people, I love to interact, I love the community. Ypsilanti is a very proud community. There's great support for us from the local community to make sure that we're successful.
