Wudang is a very interesting form. When I first started training in Wudang, I wanted to continue the weapons training that Master Pan Qing Fu began with me. Master Yuan Xiu Gang of Wudang said, with my experience, I should continue with weapons, but he really wanted me to learn this form. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to slow things down, it seemed so “Tai Chi like” and I wasn’t sure I wanted to do that. However, once I started training this, I realized how deep it was and it became one of the most favourite things I’ve ever trained. I now practice this on a daily basis. Demonstrated in Wudang China by coach Ming Chao 明超 and David Ballantyne 大卫. I filmed this one day after I learned the form. It was amazing to focus on this so deeply for a few weeks. TaiYi or LiangYi forms are created by separating Yin and Yang. These forms have explosive elements to them called 'fajin". Taiyi Wuxing Quan (Taiyi Five Element Form) includes 25 groups & 81 movements. This is an important school of Wudang internal work. The main contents of the Taiyi practice are somewhat similar to that of Wudang Taiji (tai Chi). Taiyi Wuxing Quan was founded by Master Shou Xing, who was of the Longmen (Dragon Gate) School of Wudang Daoism in the Ming Dynasty. The principles of this Taiyi Wuxing Quan are based on Yin Yang & the Five Elements. This form is highly influenced by the Five-Animal Form of Hua Tuo, a famous doctor from the Han Dynasty. Taiyi Wuxing Quan also heavily relies on regulated breathing, striking and defense. When practicing this form, the internal practice becomes more important than physical strength. The body has circular motion & moves slowly, smoothly & naturally. Movements of WuDang TaiYi WuXing Quan 1. Origin of chi; Reverse Heaven and Earth (opening) 2.
