One of Italy’s most integral, consistent and innovative selectors, who’s been in operation since the early 80s, Flavio cut his teeth and honed his transcendental sound at the famous Ethos Mama club, Riccione, fusing the sounds of Italo disco and US house, ushering in the new dancefloor generation in the late 80s. Flavio remains active to this day and has been a huge inspiration for Alfredo and Marco since the beginning. To pay homage, they’ve remixed a cult unreleased gem of his from 1991. ‘Work It’ captures that transatlantic interplay between the European sound and American sound with its jacking groove, choppy disco guitar sample and warped filtered synth. Relentlessly bumping with an infectious funk, you have to question why this didn’t see the light at the time. FuckTheGovernment pay full respect to this legacy and make up for lost time with a precision subversion. Tipping their caps at another Italian dance music phenomenon, the duo gently flip ‘Work It’ into a dreamhouse serenade where the chords sweep, the beats pop and those synths twinkle with all the necessary 2022 feels. A magical moment where 31 years melt before your very ears, this is a reminder that some things never change; grooves will always inspire, dancing will always be necessary and the government can always get f*cked.
