Slideshow: Bristol Renaissance Faire 2010 | A Step Back into the Renaissance Join us as we step back in time to the Bristol Renaissance Faire during our visit in 2010. This slideshow captures the color, costumes, characters, and atmosphere of one of the most famous Renaissance faires in the United States. The Bristol Renaissance Faire is located in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, near the Illinois border. First held in 1988, the faire recreates the fictional village of Bristol, set during the Elizabethan era in the late 16th century. It is themed around a visit by Queen Elizabeth I and has grown into a permanent 30-acre Renaissance village featuring period-style buildings, shops, pubs, and stages. Known for its elaborate costumes, live entertainment, jousting tournaments, musicians, comedians, artisans, and immersive role-playing, the Bristol Renaissance Faire is often considered one of the most authentic and well-produced Renaissance festivals in the country. Each season brings together performers and vendors from across the world to celebrate history, fantasy, and theatrical fun. These photos highlight moments from our day at the faire—wandering through the village, enjoying the performances, and soaking in the lively Renaissance spirit. It was a memorable experience filled with laughter, creativity, and a touch of historical imagination.
