Even there, Daksha showed her no respect and, enraged, began slandering Shiva. Unable to tolerate her husband's insult, Sati immolated herself in the sacrificial fire. When Lord Shiva began wandering the universe with Sati's corpse, Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to divide Sati's body into 52 parts.
