James Ernest of Crab Fragment Labs explains the rules to Flip, a classic change-making game from Cheapass Games. Flip is a strategy game using ten six-sided dice. Players roll five dice to create their starting hands, but after the starting roll, the game is pure strategy. On each turn, a player may either flip over one of their dice (for example, turning a 2 into a 5), or they may play one of their opponent's dice into the center. If they play a die into the center, their opponent may take change from the center, up to one pip less than the value they played in. Flip is surprisingly deep, considering its simple components. Smart play requires controlling the change in the center, and predicting how your opponent's moves will affect the landscape.
