Wet season (May–Oct): Bigger, more powerful swells hitting – perfect for intermediate to advanced surfers who want barrels and long rides 🏄 Key Surf Breaks Popoyo Main Break Type: Powerful reef A-frame with both left and right lines. Skill Level: Best for intermediate and advanced surfers. Tide & Conditions: Works at all tides (low tide can offer better barrels); heavy crowds are common . Outer Reef (Popoyo Outer Reef) Type: Big wave slab over shallow reef – the “Nicaraguan Pipeline.” Skill Level: Expert surfers only. Conditions: Only breaks reliably during large swells (May–Oct) .
