IMPORTANT: DO NOT LOOSEN THE SCREW MORE THAN ONE OR TWO "CLICKS". IT CAN POP OUT AND YOU REALLY DO NOT NEED TO TAKE MUCH TENSION OFF THE SCREW. In this video, Dave Ward discusses common problems people have with SPD cleats and MYX Fitness bike pedals, and offers solutions. The first issue is that people are not clipping in correctly. SPD cleats have a notch at the front that needs to be engaged first, then the heel needs to be stepped down. To disengage, the cleat needs to be twisted sideways. The second issue is that the tension on the pedal spring might be too tight. This can be adjusted using an Allen wrench. The tension should be loose enough to clip in easily, but not so loose that the shoe comes out during a workout. Dave recommends that if you are having trouble clipping in, try adjusting the tension spring a little bit at a time. He also says that it is important to engage the cleat correctly, by coming in first and then healing down. This is Part 3 of a series, which I mention in the video.
