Heavy Rainfall, Strong Winds Possible for Super Bowl Weekend | Hawaii Weather Update

Hawaii Weather - Alrighty folks. Models are starting to converge on more potentially heavy rainfall approaching this weekend. A cold front is set to move in on Friday night and an upper-level disturbance will help intensify potential rainfall into Saturday and Sunday. Strong northeasterly winds are expected behind the front, meaning we are watching for power outages. Unfortunately, this coincides with the biggest football game of the year... I do want to note... there is still a LOT of uncertainty heading into this weekend. Upper-level lows like this tend to bring more scattered rainfall. It is possible that it dumps on one side of the island, while it remains dry on the other side. The uniting factor in this forecast is the strong winds expected behind the wind. We're expecting sustained northeasterlies between 20-30 miles per hour. Gusts could be even higher. We'll be fine-tuning the forecast as the weekend approaches. Make sure to check back often.
