Information about the tour: 01:08 - In 1905 Christian E.Flensborg planted the first spruce trees in this spot of Hallormsstað. 02:05 - Totem poles. 14:11 - Lagarfljót lake. It's one of the largest lakes in Iceland, 30km long. It has an average depth of 51m and a volume of 2688 gigaliters. 17:53 - Atlavík inlet. It derives its name from the settler Graut-Atli, who settled the land between Gilsá and Vallanes on the eastern bank of Lagarfljót. Old ruins in the slopes by the inlet, thought to be the remains of Atli's farm, have been registered as protected. Atlavík is best known for outdoor festivals held there in the latter part of the 20th century. 19:51 - An old folktale tells of a worm-monster in the lake. A picture of it to the right.
