Searching for high-grade uranium ore in the Zobes forest area In this video, I take you on an exploration tour of a uranium mining area: the forest near a former uranium mine in the Zobes district. I have two highly sensitive radiation detectors with me - the RadiaCode-110 and the Raysid -which I use to search for high-grade uranium ore with botryoidal structures. Goal: to find uranium ore with botryoidal structures My main goal was to discover uranium ore with distinctive grape-shaped (botryoidal) structures – a rare find in most deposits. Initially, the finds were rather modest. But in the end, a real surprise awaited me: I came across an extremely interesting piece of ore that showed significantly elevated radiation levels. Location of exploration: Zobes – former uranium ore mining area The search took place in a wooded area near the once active uranium ore mine in the Zobes area – a historic site where uranium was formerly mined for use in the Soviet Union. Even today, interesting geological traces and occasionally even naturally occurring radioactive minerals can be found there. Equipment used: RadiaCode-110 and Raysid I used two different devices for this exploration: RadiaCode-110: For measurements when excavating minerals. Raysid: Another sensitive measuring device used mainly for finding hotspots. Conclusion Despite an initially unspectacular start, I managed to find a very special piece of uranium ore with significantly increased radiation readings and botryoidal structures. This type of find is not only interesting for collectors, but also for anyone interested in geology, radiation measurement technology, or the history of uranium mining.
