Samir Mitragotri presented the 2016 Andreas Acrivos Award for Professional Progress in Chemical Engineering Lecture entitled "Understanding and Overcoming the Body’s Biological Barriers for Drug Delivery." Samir is a professor of chemical engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He also serves as the founding director of UCSB’s Center for Bioengineering and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in 2015. Prior to the lecture, UCSB chemical engineering professor and vice chair of the AIChE Awards Committee Rachel Segalman sat down with Samir to discuss his lecture. Samir is also the editor of the journal Bioengineering & Translational Medicine. See his interview about the journal.
