I’m proud to be an American We are rulers of the world We hold the highest place in wealth In freedom we can boast! We take vacations every year We have good hope for a good career We rarely lack in food or clothes Or shelter or heat from the cold Even the poorest of us all By faith can reach a higher call God said to be entrusted with much Is for the good of those with less And if we’ve been entrusted with much God will require much of us! It’s easy to put out of our mind The thirty percent of those in need Who lack enough to eat or drink In desperate grief and suffering sink The Scriptures say God gave the earth To humankind for us to steward And when God’s Spirit nudges us When He wants us to play a part In a great need that weighs His heart Making excuses, do we ignore That little voice that says, “Help more”? God said to be entrusted with much Is for the good of those with less And if we’ve been entrusted with much God will require much of us! Oh let us pray that we might be The channel of God’s love indeed To rescue the needy, help the sick Make a way when there is no way Empower people to rise up When they’re impoverished and want to give up Oh let us pray to live Jesus’ way With God the Spirit leading the way And when we’re before Yahweh one day We’ll not be ashamed, but He will say “Well done, my good and faithful one” God said to be entrusted with much Is for the good of those with less And if we’ve been entrusted with much God will require much of us! May we be found to do nothing less! May we be found to do nothing less!
