Didn't get a chane to listen to Evan Luck because I was on the air in Sacramento the same time he was on KMEL. But I knew of him and recorded a few airchecks. I always thought Evan Luck was a bit different than most major market night time jocks. While most had lots of energy and tight breaks and phone bits, Evan Luck was like some old school mellow jocks from the 1960's. He was chill with no thrills on a hip hop station with little to no editing with regards to the calls coming into the request lines. Often times calls going on for a long period of time. I do remember his feature Battle of the Rappers, where callers battled it out from the different parts of the Bay Area. It was the thing back in the day, and I'm sure those who grew up on KMEL in the 90's remembered and probably even voted for their favorite.
