Solo Mountain Adventure: Two Nights in the Rhinogs

Welcome to part 2 of my trip to the Rhinogydd Mountains in Eryri National Park. On my second day in the Rhinogs, I headed into the mountains to climb Rhinog Fach, Y Llethr, and Diffwys. The first ascent of the day was Rhinog Fach, a challenging but excellent walk that involves a slight scramble in parts. From there, I headed to Llyn Hywel, where I took a little pit stop before making the ascent to Y Llethr, the highest summit in the Rhinogs. I finished the day off after summiting Diffwys, where I camped for the night.  I was expecting bad weather and possibly a cold night. I set up my Terra Nova Laser Compact AS behind a dry stone wall for protection from the elements. For insulation from the ground, I used my Thermarest NeoAir XTherm and kept warm in my Alpkit Pipedream 600. It was an excellent few days spent exploring this incredible mountain range, and I'm looking forward to returning there in the summer months. I hope you've enjoyed the video. Thanks for stopping by. I was planning my route on OS Maps for a two-nighter in the Rhinogydd Mountains, I spotted a lake surrounded by woodland in a hidden valley. I looked it up and it turned out to be a Celtic rainforest, so I decided to add it to my two-day circular hike around the Rhinogs. I spent the afternoon exploring the valley until I reached the southern edge of the Rhinogydd foothills. This is where I set up camp, ready for the ascent up to Rhinog Fach the next day. The terrain was unforgiving and almost impossible to pitch on, but thankfully, I stumbled across a boarded-up shooting lodge at the end of the day—it made for a fantastic place to hunker down for the night.
