From Belle D'Vain web page We are a ladies Morris Dancing side who dance Northwest Clog Morris in and around the Vale of Evesham. The side was conceived during the annual beer festival at the Fleece Inn by the wives and daughters of Pebworth Morris men. We dance North West Morris Dances, wearing clogs as worn by the mill workers in the mills of Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cheshire. You may notice that many of our dances are named after locations in these areas: Alderley Edge, Goostrey, New Mills, Colne, Millbrook. Oxford Folk Festival 19th-21st April 2024 Like a phoenix from the flames, or perhaps more like a duckling that dreams of becoming a swan, members of the former volunteer committee are continuing the folk festival after the sad demise (after a brilliant decade) of Oxford Folk Weekend. We are now, with Tim Healey's permission, the Oxford Folk Festival 2024. We have a domain name (oxfordfolkfestival.org.uk) and even a nascent website, thanks to donated time from Jack Evans. This year we are ALL volunteers, as there is no budget, but we have been heartened by the generosity of our many supporters who have decided to donate their time as performers or behind-the-scenes helpers to make this event a success. Be assured that as usual, the streets will be full of colour and music from the morris dancers, while key locations in the centre of town will be showcasing our Oxford and Oxon performers.
