Iowa Traction Railway - Trolley Pole Accident - Leaving the Trolley Poles Up

A treat particularly in 2024 is to witness electric steeple-cab locomotives switch freight cars in Mason City, Iowa. Owned by Progressive Rail, this class three shortline railroad has been in operation since 1897. A total of four Baldwin/Westinghouse steeple-cab locomotives dating back from the 1920s provide switching power for this shortline railroad. In this video, we witness IATR #54, and a little accident as the crew switches the power/electricity lines above from trolley pole to the front/back of the steeple cab. The crew is typically right on par, and this was seen only once during the visit. The Steeple Cab was built in 1923 and is ex-ITR power.
