Sahara Crossing is one of Richard Meyer's beautiful pieces. When I decided to perform it with my orchestra, I considered adding both the oud and the riq to give it a more authentic Arabic feel. Thankfully, after I contacted Mr. Meyer, he gladly approved my idea. Here is what the new version looks like—I hope you all enjoy it! And here is Mr. Meyer's reply after I sent him the music: "Hello again, Bashdar! Thank you sending your performance of "Sahara Crossing". It is now my new favorite version of the piece!
