The B-Lynch suture or B-Lynch procedure is a form of compression suture used in obstetrics to mechanically compress an atonic uterus in the face of severe postpartum hemorrhage. It was developed by Christopher B-Lynch, a consultant obstetrician and gynecological surgeon in Buckinghamshire, England. Modified B lynch, also called Richard Hayman Sutures pass directly from the anterior uterine wall through the posterior uterine wall. B lynch Suture is indicated When there is major PPH (due to any cause like Uterine Atony, Placenta Previa, Placenta Accreta, Coagulopathy, Placental Abruption, DIC, Couvelaire uterus. It is also used as a prophylactic measure in high-risk patients (high multiples, over distended Uterus, Twins, Polyhydramnios, Macrocosmic baby, Multiple Gestation etc.). When conservative and medical methods are unsuccessful.
