Vintage 1990 Footage of an Amelia Earhart commemorative flight into Burry Port.

On the 17th June 1990, 25 years ago now, I was able to capture a Commemorative flight by two German Pilots, Marion Hof, and Dr Angelica Machinek to celebrate the Historic flight of Amelia Earhart the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean in the plane named 'Friendship' from Trepassey in Newfoundland on the 18th June 1928 with her colleagues Wilmur Stulz and Louis Gordon. This event was organised by local Businessman and Councillor Les George, and the event brought out large crowds from the local communities, with many of the older residents remembering the original flight in 1928. Regrettably, Dr Angelica Machinek, lost her life in an air crash a few years later.
