4 Incredibly Rare Sports Cars From the 70s Nobody Knows! The 1970s gave us some of the most iconic sports cars ever made, but some of the era's most fascinating machines have been almost completely forgotten. Today we're diving into four incredibly rare sports cars that only a handful of people have ever seen in person. These cars are so obscure that millions of kids around the world knew about them as toys, but only dozens were ever actually built. If you're into automotive history, rare cars, or just weird forgotten vehicles, you're going to love this video. First up is the Siva S160 Spyder, a British kit car with gullwing doors that looked like it came straight out of a science fiction movie. Only twelve of these cars were ever made, but Matchbox produced millions of toy versions. The designer, Neville Trickett, was so creative that his design basically predicted what the DeLorean would look like a full decade before it even existed. Next, we're heading behind the Iron Curtain to talk about the Melkus RS 1000, the Ferrari of the East. Building a sports car in communist East Germany should have been impossible, but one man made it happen. This car competed against Western supercars and had a racing dynasty that's absolutely incredible. Only 101 were built, and today about 80 still survive. Then we're traveling to Brazil to explore the Volkswagen SP2, a car that started as an insult at a car show and turned into one of the most beautiful vehicles VW ever created. The design was so good that it influenced the Porsche 924. Unfortunately, it was underpowered and couldn't compete with other sports cars of the era, which is why so few survive today. Finally, we're checking out the Saab Sonett III, a front-wheel drive sports car built by engineers who learned everything they knew from designing fighter jets. Over 90 percent of these cars were sold in America, and they handled like nothing else on the road. ____ We do not own the footages/images compiled in this video.
