The Fastest Women's 200m In The History USA CRUSHED JAMAICA AND GREAT BRITAIN The inaugural Grand Slam track meet in Kingston, Jamaica, delivered a thrilling spectacle, particularly in the women’s 200 meters. American star and Olympic medalist Gabby Thomas emerged as the dominant force, crossing the line in 22.62 seconds—a strong effort under the conditions. Once again, she proved herself among the globe’s elite 200m sprinters. Assigned to lane 7, Thomas launched into a smooth start, quickly asserting control through the bend. Dina Asher-Smith, Britain’s 2019 World Champion, tested her early, but Thomas demonstrated both power and precision on the final straight. Her height did not impede her curve running, and once she opened up in the home stretch, she was untouchable. Asher-Smith lost ground over the last 50 meters yet still captured a credible third place. The biggest surprise came from Marileidy Paulino, who stormed the final 40 meters to claim second. Usually recognized for her 400-meter prowess, Paulino’s display in the shorter sprint was unexpected and impressive. Beyond earning eight key points toward the Grand Slam prize pool, she made a strong statement ahead of her signature 400m event.
