In this ARTable activity you will create two-sided colorblock collages, using simple shapes to make you wonder and bold colors to brighten your day. Instructions Select two pieces of paper of different or contrasting colors. Fold both pieces of paper “hamburger” style (sideways, with shorter sides together) and open them up again. Cut the pages in half on the crease. Select one rectangle in each color, and set the other two aside. Place the template on one of the colored rectangles and using the pencil, trace the outline of the square. Repeat this process on the rectangle of contrasting color. Cut out each of the traced squares. Make straight, clean cuts in each direction, without turning your scissors, so that you end up with a pile of clippings. You should have two matching squares and several paper clippings in two different colors. Glue the paper squares together, matching them up as best you can. You should have a single square that is a different color on each side. Arrange some of your smaller clippings of one color on the square of the second color. Experiment with placement for a while to see what the shapes look like. How do they change when they overlap? When you place the clippings in different arrangements, do the shapes remind you of anything? When you find an arrangement you like, apply glue to the back of each clipping to secure them to the square background. If any of your pieces hang over the edges, trim them off. You may choose to add some of these new clippings to your collage. Spend some time with your design… What happens when you turn it in a different direction? When you like your design, flip the square over and repeat steps Seven and Eight using the contrasting color combination. Use your remaining paper to create more collages the same way, or explore your surroundings to find other shapes to trace and use as backgrounds. An adult can help you pierce a hole in the top of your collage to hang with yarn, or also pierce a hole on the bottom and tie several together in a chain. Use your collages, and any remaining paper however you like! Haz cortes rectos y limpios en cada dirección, sin girar las tijeras, para que obtengas un montón de recortes. Deberías tener dos cuadrados iguales y varios recortes de papel de dos colores diferentes. 6-Pega los cuadrados de papel, uniéndolos lo mejor posible. Deberías obtener un solo cuadrado con un color diferente en cada lado. 7-Coloca algunos de los recortes más pequeños de un color sobre el cuadrado del segundo color. Experimenta con la disposición durante un rato para ver cómo se ven las formas. ¿Cómo cambian cuando se superponen? Cuando colocas los recortes en diferentes posiciones, ¿las formas te recuerdan a algo? 8-Cuando encuentres una disposición que te guste, aplica pegamento en la parte posterior de cada recorte para fijarlos al fondo del cuadrado. Si alguna de las piezas sobresale de los bordes, recórtala. Puedes añadir algunos de estos nuevos recortes a tu collage. 9-Dedica un tiempo a tu diseño... ¿Qué sucede cuando lo giras en una dirección diferente? Cuando te guste tu diseño, dale la vuelta al cuadrado y repite los pasos siete y ocho utilizando la combinación de colores contrastantes. 10-Usa el papel restante para crear más collages de la misma manera, o explora tu entorno para encontrar otras formas para trazar y usar como fondos. Un adulto puede ayudarte a perforar un agujero en la parte superior de tu collage para colgarlo con hilo, o también perforar un agujero en la parte inferior y unir varios en una cadena. ¡Usa tus collages y el papel restante como quieras!
