Heyy, guys! Welcome (back) to another “Food in Taiwan” video (I know… it has been looooonnnnnnngggggg. Thank you for your patience)! Bread is now eaten and loved almost everywhere in this world. Eating bread is convenient and bread from different countries reflects the culture differences. For instance, in Europe, bread is usually made with whole wheat and chewier than Asian bread. According to my knowing, European bread is also usually plainer and does not have a strong flavor. On the other hand, there are two main types of Asian bread: sweet and savory. Taiwan has a strong rice culture, in comparison; wheat has not always been a strong part of our culture. However, with the influence of Japanese style and other types of bread and pastries, Taiwan has developed our own “Taiwanese style bread” over time. In this episode, we will talk about the top 5 most popular sweet bread (I would not call them pastries even though some do) in Taiwan. Come taste the bread with me!
