A Demo using Deleter Black Inks 2 & 4 with Tachikawa Zebra G Nib, Tachikawa Mapping Nib, Hunt 102 & Hunt 104 on Kohinoor Bristol Smooth Paper. Skip past 6 minutes to get to the Deleter Black 4 section (06:02 marker 1). When I first started with dip pens back in the 1990s, I used Hunt 102 nibs with Higgins Black Magic ink. At that time the experience was great. I had been using Rapidographs and was happy to not have to deal with the cleaning required. The Hunt 102s were terrific and the ink flow with that ink was great. I took a bit of a break from drawing with ink which lasted some years and when I returned things were different. I found the interaction with newer bottles of Higgins ink was not as smooth. Likewise with Speedball ink. I've come to the conclusion that I won't tolerate products that don't work the way I want them to. We have a choice in what we use. So this video is an exploration of the issues I've encountered with dip pens. I enjoy using Deleter Black 4 - a good experience just like I remember when I first tried dip pens. I had a less happy experience with Deleter Black 2; similar to my experience with contemporary Black Magic or Speedball. I acknowledge that I may be doing something wrong and maybe need to treat my nibs differently to make these inks work for me. But for now, Deleter Black 4 is exactly what I need when using dip pens. I welcome any constructive comments on this topic. ---------------------------------------------------------------- For more of my art, check out my Instagram "abcedeart" and my website abcedeart.com.
