Peru by Motorcycle - The Long Cuts 2. Puno to Mazuko.

A longer look at Day 2 travelling Puno to Mazuko on the edge of the Amazon. A long, cold and ultimately wet day dropping from the high plains down the eastern side of the Andes. Spectacular views of rock formations and vast valleys across the high country with good quality roads and a lot less traffic than Day 1. Martijn's altitude sickness pills were kicking with the need to relieve himself building by the minute. It was somewhat cold for most of the day reaching altitudes over 4,700m and it was a pleasure to eventually drop down and into the warmer tree-lined valleys approaching Mazuko but the trade-off was some light to medium rain to contend with. Following an alledged landslide/wrong turn mix up we finished a long day in Mazuko just after dark with the added bonus of getting to carry our heavy luggage up 2 or 3 flights of stairs at the hotel.
