In honor of its official release on CD and as a download, Middle Tennessee's own Protomaniacs relive their spectacular set of Queen covers! Wrapping up a night of major pop and circumstance, the group joins forces Devin "Devin Bowie" Lamp, of Ascent of Everest/Meltface fame (and a swell guy who loans me gear when I ask), to bring you the hit single from Queen's 1982 record, Hot Space. Get them snaps 'n' claps in the right spots, folks at home - you don't want people to think you're Vanilla Ice, do ya? :) The bill also featured sets by The Remones and The Non-Commissioned Officers covering The Stooges. First shoot with a new Canon 60D! Brought the Canon fixed 50mm-f/1.4 lens, needed a wider angle. Audio from Zoom H1. There is audible distortion, but it's analog; all of my peaks were well below 0 dBFS, and the PA wasn't blowing out. The power and fury was just too much for the capsules in the little mics on the Zoom. Makes sense because I forgot my muffs and couldn't hear til about noon on Saturday!
