In Alpine rescue operations, the safe and swift delivery of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) is crucial to saving lives. Beyond traditional methods, drones have emerged as a valuable tool, yet their widespread adoption remains limited. Extensive research highlights the quantitative advantages of drones, such as their speed and cost-effectiveness. Notably, drone delivery of AEDs to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) patients exhibits substantial time gains compared to helicopters and ground rescue, leading to higher survival rates. Although initial tests in urban areas prove the feasibility of AED drones, empirical analysis in mountainous settings is still lacking. The unique topography, remoteness, and seasonal challenges of these regions present specific obstacles to implementing AED drones in real-world scenarios. Consequently, comprehensive testing is required from logistical, medical, and technological perspectives, alongside long-term assessments of best practices. The AeroDrop project aims to address these concerns and advance the implementation of AED drones in Alpine rescue operations supported by a comprehensive digital-twin simulation environment. Project AeroDrop - BVLOS drone rescue operations in an alpine environment: AeroDrop was developed and realized by AIR6 Systems in cooperation with the Austrian Red Cross - Landesverband Kaernten, Medical University of Graz and University of Klagenfurt (Project TREATED). Research results are published in Resuscitation Plus and available under the following link: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science... The project was supported by Zoll Österreich GmbH (Vienna, Austria). #air6systems #drones #uav #droneservices #drones#futuretechnology #alpine #bvlos #technology #europe https://www.air6systems.com / / air6-systems
