In the Elder Scrolls universe, this is called a “Kalpa.” The word describes the cycle of time from the creation of Mundus—the mortal realm—to its destruction. And yes, even the Kalpa we’ve played through as the Hero of Kvatch, the Last Dragonborn, and the Nerevarine will eventually come to an end. That’s inevitable. We came closest to this moment in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In the year 4E 201, Alduin—the ancient Nordic god, the apocalyptic dragon known as the “World-Eater”—appeared in Helgen to finish the task he had once left incomplete.
