The Red Dead Redemption 2 Bolt-Action Rifle In Real Life

In this video I show off the real-life "Bolt-Action Rifle" featured in Red Dead Redemption 2, the American variant of the Krag–Jørgensen rifle, the M1898 Springfield. I use voice narration to discuss the rifle's development history as well as how it performs in-game versus reality. The "Krag" is this really cool late 1800s design where to load the rifle you have to use this odd loading gate to access the "capsule" magazine, and then rounds are loaded one-by-one (or dumped in all at once, though this requires large hands and fine motor manipulation under pressure). It's a truly oddball design coming from the 2018 perspective but nevertheless really mechanically interesting. I'm glad the Krag made its way into RDR2.
