They told us Kakavos Canyon was a dry route. They were wrong. 🌊🏔️ Located in the rugged heart of Mount Oiti (Oeta) near Ypati, Kakavos is known among the canyoning community as a classic dry descent—perfect for technical rappels without the need for wetsuits. However, nature had other plans for us. We encountered several sections of deep, still water that turned our "dry" hike into a full-blown swimming expedition. In this video, we navigate the narrow limestone walls, tackle the technical rappels (including the impressive 35m drop), and find out exactly how cold that mountain water is when you aren't wearing a neoprene suit! Canyon Stats: • Location: Mt. Oiti, Central Greece (near Ypati/Lamia) • Technicality: Multiple rappels (max ~35m) • Expected Conditions: Dry / Seasonal • Actual Conditions: Standing pools and swims (Post-rain/melt season) If you’re planning to tackle Kakavos, let this be a reminder: in the mountains, "dry" is always subject to change! 👍 Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe if you enjoyed the video!
