In this critical video series, we shine a light on the often-overlooked world of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). Each episode features a doctor sharing a patient's story of late-stage PAD diagnosis—a diagnosis that should have come much sooner. It drives home the importance of going to PADtest.org to find a primary care doctor or podiatrist who can test for PAD in clinic. WHY THIS MATTERS More than 70% of patients surveyed by the Global PAD Association report being misdiagnosed when presenting with textbook PAD symptoms. Common misdiagnoses include: • Back/spine/sciatica issues • Diabetic neuropathy • Arthritis • "Just old age" • Fibromyalgia Some patients even underwent unnecessary procedures like spinal fusions or hip replacements, which didn't address their true underlying condition: blocked arteries due to PAD. OUR MISSION This series aims to educate both medical professionals and patients about the importance of: 1. Recognizing textbook PAD symptoms (leg pain, cramps, neuropathy) 2. Conducting proper vascular assessments 3. Considering PAD as a potential diagnosis for these symptoms By raising awareness, we hope to prevent the progression of PAD to critical limb ischemia through earlier diagnosis and intervention. TAKE ACTION If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms that could be PAD you can find a testing site through PADtest.org or: • Call the Global PAD Association's Leg Saver Hotline: (415) 320-7138 • Visit padhelp.org for more information Don't let PAD go undiagnosed. Early detection can save limbs and lives. Share this video to spread awareness and potentially help someone get the diagnosis they need.
