How to Make a Cast-On Bonnet with Split Rings for Your Circular Sock Knitting Machine | Erlbacher Speedster Tutorial In this video, I’ll show you how to make a cast-on bonnet (also known as a set-up bonnet) specifically for your circular sock knitting machine (CSM). I’m using my Erlbacher Gearhart Speedster with a 64-stitch cylinder for this demo. This cast-on bonnet uses split rings, which I personally really enjoy using—although I know they’re not for everyone! I’ll walk you through each step, from attaching the split rings to working a picot edge, creating a hung hem, and even changing colors or yarn to make a polished, functional bonnet for your machine.
