Ahead of our concert on Thursday 11th April at St John’s Smith Square, here’s a sneak preview of our MOZART’S WOMEN concert from Jane Glover herself. Jane spent some time talking about all the wonderful music that’s being performed in our upcoming concert, chatting about the inspirational women who moved Mozart to compose some of his greatest work. She also talked about the fabulous soloists Lauren Zhang and Jennifer France who will be performing on stage alongside Jane and the LMP. In this video, Jane introduces Aloysia Weber, a hugely talented young singer – and Mozart’s first love, who inspired some truly gorgeous music; her sister Constanze, later Mozart’s wife, for whom he composed the divine ‘Et incarnatus est’ from his C minor Mass; also the English star Nancy Storace for whom Mozart wrote an aria with a special piano obbligato that he himself played. Then there’s the mysterious young women for whom the stupendous but misnamed ‘Jeunehomme’ Piano Concerto No. 9 was composed, and finally Mozart’s mother who sadly died in Paris while Mozart was composing his Symphony No. 31. This is going to be a fantastic concert, reuniting the LMP and Jane for a sublime evening packed with Mozart’s finest music. Coloratura soprano and BBC Young Musician Lauren Zhang add the icing on the 70th birthday cake!
